During the holidays this year, enjoy time with the family out on the ice skating rink in the beautiful Hudson Valley. Head to the Bear Mountain Ice Rink at Bear Mountain State Park for open skating hours throughout the year.
Bear Mountain State Park is located in the rugged mountains that rise from the west bank of the Hudson River in New York State. The Park offers numerous options for outdoor activities including a large playing field, shaded picnic groves, lake and river fishing, a
swimming pool, trailside museum and zoo, hiking and biking trails, and cross-country skiing in the winter. The Perkins Memorial Tower atop Bear Mountain is also a great little getaway. From the top of the tower, you can take in the spectacular views of the park, the Hudson Highlands and Harriman State Park. The park is also home to the beautiful Bear Mountain Inn where you can make weekend arrangements with the family for superior, comfortable accommodations. The Bear Mountain Ice Rink offers a wide open area for children and adults to enjoy ice skating. The rink is open from November through March (weather permitting) on Monday and Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Tomorrow, on Christmas Eve, the rink will offer an open area for skating from 10am-11:30am, 12pm-1:30pm, 2-3:30pm, and 4pm-5:30pm. On Christmas Day, the rink will be closed. During the holiday break from December 26th through the 30th, the daily hours are as follows: 10am-11:30am, 12pm-1:30pm, 2pm-3:30pm, 4pm-5:30pm, 6pm-7:30pm and from 8pm-9:30pm. The rink is located outdoors and is uncovered to dress appropriately.
Skate rentals at the rink cost $4 per pair with sizes from a children’s size 8 through and adult size 13. Admission is as follows: Adults (12 and up): $4, $5 after 6pm. Children ages 4-11: $3, $4 after 6pm. Non-skaters and seniors: $2. Children under 3 years of age: Free. Skate sharpening is available for $5 and parking is $8 per car.
